The Robin Hood Foundation responded to Sandy victims with the 121212 Concert at Madison Square Garden — raising $71 million, critical awareness of the Robin Hood organization, and broadening the opportunity for an expanded ongoing donor base.
121212 featured singers The Who, Bruce Springsteen, Alicia Keys, Bon Jovi, Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, Chris Martin, Kanye West and Paul McCartney.
The concert was simulcast on dozens of US and international television stations, streamed over countless websites, capturing an audience of over 2 billion people – the fifth largest media extravaganza ever. The event and all of it’s marketing was orchestrated in the 6 weeks between the storm and the concert date. 100% of all funds raised were granted to nearly 400 charities throughout NY, NJ, LI and CT area in less than four months.
